It’s been a while since my last post. Well, my exhibition is up and open as planned. There was of course, a bit of last-minute rushing around. Not too bad really, with only one late-night framing job. I then transported everything over to the Shenkman Centre and was just about to leave when I met the diminutive Eliane, the hanging party of one.
Now, it had previously been suggested to me that my help was not needed for the hanging itself. Apparently some artists can get a bit persnickety about where their works hang! Initially I stayed on, just to help hang a large heavy central piece (“Eighteen pieces of me” – six pieces shown above). Then, being game to transport and hold works, I was then willingly kept on. I found it was interesting to see where everything landed…not at all where I expected in some cases. It was great to see Eliane at work, integrating my work into the exhibition spaces.
Interestingly, it was the figure works that adorn in the more open spaces, with portraits in the office areas. I much enjoyed having someone else decide on the flow of the exhibition. I’m biased of course, but I think it looks great. Congratulations Eliane!
