
At some point in discussions on linear perspective, I invariably say something along the lines of “perspective doesn’t have to be perfect…just plausible” or perhaps more forcefully “plausible is better than perfect”.
What I mean is that it’s the artist that builds the illusion and perspective is something to be played with: as with all of art’s facets, it’s the image that counts, not the theory. At a recent workshop we had an invigorating segment on “Wonky Perspective”:
