June and July have been especially busy for France and I: moving to a new home on fairly short notice, studio and all. Moving, as I’m sure you’ll agree, is invariably more work than expected. With a business and studio to move too, it can seem doubly so. It is however, also a time of passage and discovery – all of that “old” art lying forgotten – perhaps beckoning a reassessment – certainly a remembering. Each artwork is so personal and memories of time and place flood the senses, somehow feeling like more than being there.
Amidst all of the boxes, I’ve been busy preparing for the upcoming annual Instructor’s Exhibitions at the Ottawa School of Art, downtown and at the Orleans campus.
I’m really excited to be part of both shows: At the Orleans campus, I’ll be showing 3 recently completed figurative paintings, destined for the Sivarulrasa Gallery in Almonte – each a progression in my figurative work…perhaps a little surreal!
Downtown at the OSA I’ll be presenting a recently finished, full-length portrait commission.
I hope that you can join me in celebrating:
Downtown Instructors Exhibition, 35 George St, 2 Aug to 2 Sept. Vernissage Thursday 2 Aug , 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Information: http://artottawa.ca/galleries/
Orleans Instructors Exhibition, Shenkman Centre, 10 Aug to 22 Sept, Reception Thursday 23 Aug , 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00. Information: http://artottawa.ca/galleries/
