France and I started “Break-a-Brush” some 5 years ago, initially with Saturday painting workshops (over 100 to date) and last year we added the Mentoring program for artists looking for individual coaching. Our on-line web resource and community “breakabrush.com” launched earlier this year.
We’re inspired by the idea of a “virtual workshop” : a website resource and email information service, designed to complement artists’ tool kits. Courses and workshops might not always suit everyone and at times not be practical due to time constraints, distance, etc.
“breakabrush.com” is our subscription website resource and email information service. Members of this new program receive regular emails, notifications and also have access to new on-line content:
- Workshop Moments: Video segments from Break-a-Brush workshops: demonstrations and discussions;
- An evolving database of David’s methods and practices, with the widest applicability to various mediums;
- Weekly “Brush Bristles” emails: Ideas and truisms that keep us as artists thriving;
A weekly “Ask David” process: “Agony Artist”- oriented replies to creative impasses and vexing questions; - Studio Moments: Video commentary, ideas and work-in-progress insights from deep inside David’s studio!
