New for 2019 – On-line portrait courses – Acrylic, Oil and Watercolour

Painting portraits – an enduring fascination!

There’s something about painting portraits, which – uniquely – both scares and intrigues. There are few satisfactions that compare to communicating an insight into people through images that resonate. In the best portraits, a little life seems to rest even within the paint itself!

I’ve looked at so many portraits, artists and their approaches and I’m amazed by the diversity to similar ends: books, videos and websites frequently seem to miss the mark, perhaps relying on convention rather than getting to the heart of what makes a portrait reach out to the viewer.

I wanted to take a different approach: communicating key skills and techniques which I’ve proven time and again in my portrait practice, and equally, working closely with participants through individual feedback and review. Whether you’re totally new to portraiture or an experienced artist looking to try something new, you’ll be surprised at how easy it can become – painting portraits with David Kearn!

For Winter 2019, I’m offering three on-line courses, allowing for a flexible schedule which suites your life priorities and of course independent of your location:

  • Expressive Portraits with Acrylic: Opening January 2019
  • Expressive Portraits with Oil: Opening February 2019
  • Expressive Portraits with Watercolour: Opening March 2019

Each on-line course consists of 8 web-lessons, containing video demonstrations, examples and assignments.  The courses are very flexible, so that participants can follow a weekly schedule or work at their own pace, submitting each lesson for review at any time during the course, or during the two following months. Choose your preference for reviews, via email or through phone or Skype calls. Throughout the course, participants can use their own references or those included in the course materials.

Cost is $125.00 for each course of 8 lessons. Email to reserve your place and receive additional details: david@davidkearn.com

I’m very happy to answer any questions you might have!
