Materials Information
Materials for the course are very flexible. Many of you, like me, are working with whatever is currently in the studio, perhaps resorting to buying on-line when stocks as stocks deplete!
Suggested materials for the first week: Cartridge paper pad or large sketch book, willow or soft vine charcoal, compressed charcoal, graphite pencils, kneadable eraser.
Suggested Course Materials: (Materials will be discussed in the first week) As above, plus a few sheets of 60-80 lb drawing paper (15”x 20” approx.), Conté crayon in black, white, sepia (or similar neutral shade), 140 lb cold-press watercolour paper (15×20” approx), selection of tube or block watercolour paints (cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, Paynes gray), optionally, a small amount of opaque white (Chinese or similar), selection of watercolour brushes, small flat stiff bristle brush, watercolour resist, palette, bulldog clips, tissues, masking tape, plumb line, mirror, viewfinder.
