Course Description: Let’s explore the joy of creating free and vital portraits in dry media, acrylic, oil and watercolour. David’s approach balances control and technique with immediacy and spontaneity and demonstrates how these can be woven together to capture personality as well as likeness. There will be a focus on observation and sound technique along with exploring the portrait as means of expression. Individual coaching is provided, based on each student’s needs and goals, with students welcome to work in the medium of their choice. These sessions include demonstrations of the instructor’s techniques.

Following (or during) each lesson you can contact us with questions and send work for review. We’ll be sure to get back to you with review and comments within 24 hours (Mon-Fri). These reviews may be tied to the lesson plan or equally, the result of independent endeavours.
