Weekly Brush Bristles … from Winslow Homer

Winslow Homer, Summer Night, Oil 1890.

“When you paint, try to put down exactly what you see. Whatever else you have to offer will come out anyway.” …Winslow Homer

Winslow Homer was an early influence for me, particularly when working with Watercolour. I was greatly inspired by his “Canoe in Rapids”: for it’s clarity and effect certainly, and equally in the casual, informal note. You’re transported there…….wait, where are you?…in a following canoe?…you’d better start paddling!
